If you own a Rolls Royce or Derby Bentley on then the following is a must read prior to effecting any repair…

The Rolls directly above, and it’s transmission just off shot to the left on a rolling transmission jack, fell victim to a poorly effected clutch repair by a long time mechanic that was unfamiliar with the marque. These types of repairs always have the unwanted effect of not only doing the work again, but multiply the cost of repair due to ham handedness and damaged components. These vehicles benefit from unique design elements like no other marque making them, at their respective periods in history, truly the best vehicles in the world and at the same time likely the most complicated mechanically. They look simple because they were designed to not impose complication into the life of the owner. However, do not be fooled, they are not simple unless you understand the “why?” in their design. If one is unaware or unwilling to accept they are designed to function like no other car then confusion ensues and damage is inevitable. There are absolutely no design elements in a Rolls Royce prior to the Shadow (which in itself is 95% bespoke) that shares one solitary functional similarity to any other car of the period(.) Below happy clients and their car…

Upon waking up the 29′ Phantom from it’s thirty year slumber, and after a short stint of running, we found the cylinder head to have porosity issues. There was also found to be no coolant flow. The head had to be removed. The corrosion we found was so bad it was decided that head replacement was the only option…
